• Census: 1891, The Gables, near Battery Green, Lowestoft, Suffolk; 1891 Census: Emma C High, Cook Domestic Servant, says born Great Yarmouth. Susan Hallam, single, 53 years old, living on own means, is the head of the household, nephew Walter W Hallam, solicitor, aged 28 also living there.
• Census: 1901, Thurlton, Norfolk, UK; Census says she's livng here with Mum & Dad. Emma is a laundress.
• Arrival: 16 May 1903, Glasgow to Montreal; Sails on the Sardinian in a "Second cabin". Marries John the same day as she gets off the ship!
• Residence: 1911, Nelson, British Columbia, Canada; 1911 Canada Census. John, wife Emma and daughter Mary are living at 1204 Walter Street, Nelson, Canada. He is a Railway Inspector. It says Emma emigrated in 1898.
