    RUSHMER, Norman John November 18, 1926 – April 6, 2013 Our father and grandfather Norman Rushmer passed away April 6, 2013 at the age of 86 years. He will be missed by his daughters Karen Rushmer and Brenda Hoddinott; his grandson Wil Rushmer; and his brother Wayne (Rosalie) Rushmer of Westbank, BC. Norman was predeceased by our mother Patricia Rushmer; his parents Lydia and Hubert Rushmer; his sister Ramona Rushmer; brother Ivan Rushmer; and grandson Joshua Marsman. Norman served in the military for 25 years. He and his family have travelled Canada and overseas for the military. A graveside service will be held at the Union Cemetery, 28th Ave and Spiller Road SE, on April 17, 2013 at 1:00 p.m.

    • Professional position/status: 25 Dec 1948, Okotoks, Alberta, Canada; Ramona was a hairdresser at Okotoks at the date of her death. She died in High River hospital as a result of a road accident in Nanton. The inquest states that she was of Okotoks but that Rosetown was her home and was where her father lived. Okotoks is 28 miles south of Calgary, 14 miles north of High River and 32 miles north of Nanton.

    Tragic death, road accident.
    On 11 January 1949 a coroner's jury met at High River. Ramona was an 18 year old hairdresser of Okotoks and died in High River hospital on Christmas night. The jury found that she died as a result of brain and abdominal injuries suffered at 11:40pm when the truck overturned on the main highway one mile south of Nanton. It was not known who the driver was. John Edison Scott of Nanton was also in the truck, he was intoxicated; he escaped with minor injury to one arm. He lost his drivers licence for 6 months, a year before, in Calgary on a dangerous driving charge. It was his father's truck and he admitted he had been driving it but maintained she was driving at the time of the accident. They were going to his home south of Nanton then intending to drive to her home in Rosetown, Saskatchewean 330 miles away, for Christmas. Her father Hubert Charles Rushmer, of Rosetown, attended the inquest.
